Introducing the South Florida Proton Center

"It's the radiotherapy of the future"
- James G. Schwade M.D. FACR, FACRO, FASTRO

State of the Art

The South Florida Proton Center is an area wide, state of the art, proton beam radiation treatment facility scheduled to open in early 2012. It will be a unique partnership between private and academic physicians representing an innovative, efficient model for the delivery of this advanced technology for cancer treatment.

Local and Convenient Facilities

The planned development will be in Miami-Dade County, which will ensure maximum accessibility for both physicians and patients throughout southeastern Florida. The first LEED certified proton facility will be located adjacent to the UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Complex in downtown Miami. That location, approximately 10-15 minutes from Miami International Airport, and 20 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport will allow access to patients from around the world.

Community Based

Unlike traditional single institution based technology, the SFPC will work with a large number of institutions and physicians to make the technology available to the broadest number of patients.

First-Class Facilities

The SFPC is working with a major national architectural firm for the design of the facility. The facility will have a 250 Mev super conducting cyclotron with two general treatment vaults and a room for eye treatments and physics research.  The main treatment vaults will contain a gantry in one room and a single straight line horizontal beam in the other.Learn more about us
